Danube Delta Fauna

The Danube Delta is so different from what foreigners might imagine. The Danube Delta usually makes you think of the forking branches where tourists are taken for a boat ride.

But Danube Delta is not just water – it is the land surrounding it, the land crisscrossed by water, the land that people and animals live off.

The Danube Delta is home for 98% of the aquatic fauna of Europe and many of the 3,400 animal species that are unique in the world.

Pelicans, cormorants, egrets, gulls, wild ducks, deer, bee-eater, wild geese, sturgeon, catfish, carp, pike, perch are some of the component species biodiversity of the Danube Delta.
